The Kaczorowski lab at the University of Michigan is recruiting a post-doctoral scholar to study system genetics analysis in Alzheimer's Disease, including collaboration with the multi-institutional leaders to evaluate agents; such as drugs, nutraceutical, and bioceuticals, that might slow aging and or Alzheimer?s disease in mice. The Kaczorowski lab utilizes cutting-edge neuroanatomical, neuroimaging, computational, and behavioral genetic approaches to understand the cellular and physiological pathways that modulate aging and multiple disease risks in mammals. The Kaczorowski lab is in the Department of Neurology at the University of Michigan Medical School located in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The successful candidate will be able to plan, develop, execute, and analyze an independent research project in the context of a supportive lab and institutional environment. In addition, they will supervise and help train graduate students, undergraduate research assistants, and junior technicians in the lab. We are looking for someone who has the aptitude to learn new techniques, works well with others, and possesses strong critical thinking skills.
Utilize genetically heterogeneous mice, in which each mouse is genetically unique, to study the aging rate and disease risks following treatment with specific drugs and pharmaceuticals.
Help maintain lab organization and record all information in an official laboratory notebook.
Maintain organization of lab protocols, equipment operation, and standard techniques.
Participate in periodic research discussions.
Present data and plans for new experiments during laboratory meetings.
Collaborate with colleagues to develop and achieve short- and long-range plans.
Assists with the creation of posters, manuscripts, and presentations for scientific meetings and/or grant submissions.
Provides other support to the program as directed.
Must possess either a Ph.D in biological or related sciences field, or professional doctorate (e.g. M.D., DD.S., D.V.M., Pharm.D.).
