The Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) is a 24-bed unit under the Surgical Critical Care Service (SCCS) with two rounding teams (attending physicians trained in either trauma/surgical critical care or anesthesia/critical care). The SCCS is responsible for providing ICU level care for the following patient populations: emergency surgical service (ESS), post-operative abdominal transplant, vascular, thoracic, gastrointestinal, surgical oncology, plastics, gynecology/obstetrical emergencies, ear/nose/throat (ENT), and surgical oncology.
