The Financial Operations Advisor serves as a lead fiscal officer and senior accountant on the Student Life Financial Management team. This position directs and provides oversight for administrative and fiscal operational needs for Student Health Services (SHS) and serves on the Student Health Services' leadership team (RST). Manages the SHS resource management operations which support over 17,000 outpatient medical and dental patients, over 90,000 pharmaceutical and allied healthcare encounters, health-related outreach and engagement programs and approximately $14M in revenue annually.
As a strategic business partner, this position applies developed industry knowledge to collaborate closely with unit leadership to contribute to the development and implementation of financial management strategies, department policies, and short-term and long-term unit goals. Through effective navigation of university systems, this role synthesizes data to convey difficult, complex, or sensitive information to appropriate leaders to influence data-driven strategic decisions and helps to identify and recommend solutions. Identifies and coordinates approved revenue generating and/or expenditure reduction opportunities for assigned units. This position maintains an operational environment that meets fiscal compliance standards established within the unit, Student Life, the university and State/Federal regulations. This role manages day-to-day fiscal operations for assigned units and provides leadership to full-time fiscal support staff and student employees. Serves as Cost Center Manager to review and approve procurement, travel, and business-related Workday transactions. Executes general ledger accounting processes, monthly reconciliations, trend analysis, forecasting, and preparation of monthly and annual reports for monitoring units financial status. Oversees the annual budget process for designated departments and ensures leadership is informed to align financial resources with unit strategy. Utilizing ongoing quality improvement methods and critical thinking skills, this role works with the Associate Director, Medical Director and Operations Excellence Manager to continually assesses effectiveness of services and unit practices. Establishes, monitors, and analyzes benchmarking information and metrics. Provides administrative, fiscal, and policy guidance and education in support of department needs and strategic initiatives. Independently leads and completes complex projects at the direction of senior fiscal leaders. May assist Associate Director or Building Coordinator with working through Facility Operations and Development and Student Life on capital project planning and implementation for Wilce Student Health Center. Collaborates with Revenue Cycle manager to review charge description master and pricing. Assists Associate Director to review internal (MOUs) and external contracts. Works closely with the Procurement, Building & Operations Coordinator responsible for all purchasing activities and maintaining medical supply inventory controls and equipment. As a supervisor, this position facilitates a work environment that adequately represents the shared values and culture commitments of the university, Office of Student Life, and department. Managerial responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, hiring, onboarding, coaching, and developing less experienced fiscal team member, delegating work assignments and responsibilities, facilitating regular team meetings, developing and implementing short-term and long-term team-based and individual goals, and responding to time and absence-related requests in the universitys employment system within required timeframes. Participation in Student Life and University committees is also expected, as appointed. May be required to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends. Required:
Bachelors degree in accounting, finance or equivalent combination of education and experience.
6 years of relevant experience serving as a strategic financial partner, including overseeing organizational budgets, accounting systems, financial reporting and analysis.
Extensive knowledge of accounting principles, systems and applications.
Considerable experience providing customer service and administrative support to effectively serve as a reliable resource to colleagues.
Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Suite products, especially Excel, and demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently within minimal guidance and demonstrated ability to take initiative.
Ability to prioritize and manage tasks on time and provide status updates to management.
Must model professionalism and excellent oral/written communication skills with all levels of staff within the organization.
Successful completion of background check and health screening.

The posting range for this position is $74,900-$98,500. The offer for this position will be based on internal equity, unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.
