The Pharmacy Director oversees pharmacy operations and pharmaceutical care across hospital-based inpatient and outpatient locations through support of strategic initiatives focused on electronic health record transition, automation implementation, outpatient infusion growth, medication use and human resources efficiencies, financial stewardship, and formulary standardization, while ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, Joint Commission and CMS standards, and hospital policies.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead daily pharmacy operations in accordance with patient care needs, hospital and health system strategy, and regulatory standards.
Ensure compliance with all state and federal laws and medication management accreditation requirements.
Implement and maintain technologies and workflows to enable safe and effective medication storage, distribution, and utilization.
Recruit, develop, mentor, and retain pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.
Optimize resource utilization and monitor financial reporting to ensure provision of cost-effective services.
Champion process improvement and customer service excellence across in all areas of medication use.
Participate in local and service line committees and educational programming to advance pharmacy's role in patient care.
Support care delivery for diverse patient populations in inpatient and outpatient settings - including medical, surgical, critical care (adult and neonatal), transplant, oncology, cardiology, and many more!
Educational and Experience Requirements:
Graduate from an accredited school of pharmacy with Bachelor's or Doctor of Pharmacy degree.
Master's degree in pharmacy administration or healthcare management (MS, MBA, MHA) preferred.
5 years of pharmacy leadership experience (inpatient preferred) of progressive complexity OR HSPAL residency plus 2 years of pharmacy leadership experience (inpatient preferred) of progressive complexity required.
