Dear Prospective Fellowship Candidate,

The US Medical Affairs Oncology Strategy Fellowship, offered in collaboration with the University of Southern California Mann School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences and Gilead Sciences, is designed for a PharmD graduate interested in pursuing a career in the pharmaceutical industry. The Fellow will have extensive exposure to the US Medical Affairs organization and gain a thorough understanding of the role of Medical Affairs within the oncology pharmaceutical industry in the United States.

Duration: 2 years (July 1, 2026 – June 30, 2028)

U.S. Medical Affairs, Oncology Strategy Fellowship Activities:

Cross-functional collaboration:
The Fellow will collaborate with colleagues across US (USMA) and Global Medical Affairs (GMA), US Marketing, and US Patient Access &Quality (PAQ), to learn about the role and value of Medical Affairs within Gilead.

Medical Affairs Launch Activities:
Support various launch activities across a variety of tumor types (Breast, GI, Gynecological, Lung, Pipeline), including advisory board planning, publication planning, content creation, and field medical training.

Strategic Planning:
The Fellow may support project management of the US Medical Affairs POA (Plan of Action), including planning strategic and tactical workshops.
Operational Excellence:
Collaborate with US Medical, Legal, and Regulatory partners to work on projects regarding process improvement, guidance documents, and digital assets / engagement.

Compliance:
Learn and comply with regulations and guidance from US FDA that governs the pharmaceutical industry.

External Department Rotations:
Based on the Fellow’s interests, there may be an opportunity to participate in rotations with other Gilead departments to gain comprehensive experience and diversify the Fellow’s skill set.

USC Graduate Coursework:
Fellows may complete graduate coursework at the University of Southern California with the opportunity to pursue a Graduate Certificate in a variety of fields.

Leadership & Development:
Fellows will have opportunities for leadership, teaching, and professional growth, including mentoring PharmD students and engaging in professional development activities such as goal setting, strengths identification/assessments, advising, coaching, and mentoring at USC.

Minimum Application Requirements: The candidate must have completed a PharmD from an accredited college or university within five years of initial appointment and a minimum doctoral program GPA of 3.0.
