Do Great Things! Durham Technical Community College is hiring an Adjunct instructor in the Life Sciences Department. TheAdjunct Instructor, Life Sciences is responsible for course preparation, delivery, grading, and records management in an efficient and effective manner for courses in the Life Sciences department. Courses taught includes continuing education courses (such as BioWork), curriculum courses associated with the Biotechnology AAS (associate in applied sciences) degree program, summer camps for middle schoolers and high schoolers, and/or customized industry training. The Adjunct Instructor will work closely with his or her Program Director and other faculty on matters related to and for the benefit of the Science and Math Guided Career Pathway and its students. More specifically, and consistent with the terms and conditions of appointment as stipulated in the contract of employment.

Provide accessible, quality learning experiences for all courses, as assigned, for the full duration of scheduled instruction, including seated, online, hybrid, academic success, and/or interdisciplinary capstone courses as needed at any of Durham Tech's instructional sites
Be fully prepared with a syllabus and instructional plans for each class session in accord with the stated objectives of the course
Collaborate with the Program Director and Curriculum Developer to ensure that the courses are meeting the needs of business and industry;
Collaborate with the Life Sciences Career Development Specialists to coordinate industry guest speakers for courses;
Coordinate needed tutoring sessions for students with the CAE tutors;
Maintain complete course and student records, reports, and forms
Enforce academic policy and procedures at all times, and comply with institutional rules and regulations
Learn the college's Learning Management System (Canvas) and other virtual platforms, such as Canva, Quizizz, Quizlet, etc., to deliver effective, high-quality learning experiences in the classroom, lab and online;
Partner with other areas of the college to deliver customized training courses as needed;
Seek out and participate in professional development opportunities to stay abreast of best teaching practices, technology used in the classroom or online, and trending industry practices;
Assume other appropriate responsibilities and perform additional tasks as assigned by the Life Sciences Program Director and Dean in meeting the needs of the institution.
Bachelor's degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, or a related discipline with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in the discipline completed.
Work Experience:
At least two years' pharmaceutical or biomanufacturing experience required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, or a related discipline. Prior BioWork or Biotechnology teaching experience within any NC Community College preferred.
