SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital is a 195-bed, nonprofit, academic medical center that provides exceptional care to patients of all ages in greater St. Louis and Metropolitan areas as well as across the country. Our patients receive compassionate and quality care with state-of-the-art clinical facilities such as a level IV NICU, level I pediatric emergency and trauma center, mixed pediatric and cardiac intensive care unit and bone marrow transplant unit. With more than 200 specialists across more than 60 services, as well as the primary location for the Saint Louis University Pediatric Residency program, we are at the leading edge of pediatrics and our patients receive expert level care.
Residency Overview
The PGY-1 pharmacy residency program at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital has been established since 2015 and is a 12 month, ASHP-accredited program. Upon completion of this residency, pharmacists will possess the skills necessary to provide care to pediatric patients in a variety of settings. The primary emphasis of this residency is to provide residents the skills they need to develop independent problem-solving skills in pediatric pharmacotherapy, including the establishment of a solid knowledge base in pediatric/neonatal pharmacology and pharmacokinetics.
This program is designed to give residents the skills and knowledge required to become competent pharmacy practitioners, and as part of it, they are expected to:
Develop clinical skills in pharmaceutical care with an emphasis on pediatric patients
Develop independent learning skills
Function as a competent member of a multidisciplinary patient care team
Promote and support a safe and effective medication use process
Provide drug information to health care providers
Demonstrate ethical and professional behavior
Serve as a member in a variety of committees
Pharmacy Practice Residency: Application Information
All applicants must possess a PharmD degree from an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE)-accredited school of pharmacy and be eligible for licensure in Missouri
