The ASHP-accredited PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program at Shady Grove Medical Center is designed to provide residents with the skills and knowledge to become competent and independent pharmacy practitioners, able to provide pharmaceutical care for a wide variety of patient populations. The program incorporates case presentations, in-services, journal clubs, medication use evaluations, quarterly newsletter publications, and a longitudinal research project to augment residents' learning and professional development. Numerous opportunities exist for precepting, medication safety and quality improvement initiatives.
