POSITION DETAILS
A position of an Assistant to Higher Education Officer (aHEO) is available in the Medical Laboratory Sciences (MLS) department within the School of Arts and Sciences. The aHEO position will report directly to the Chair of the department of Medical Laboratory Sciences (MLS).
The Medical Laboratory Sciences (MLS) Program is an undergraduate major in the School of Arts and Sciences. The MLS mission is to educate and train entry level laboratory professionals for a wide range of health-related laboratories in the New York area. MLS graduates work at hospital and private diagnostic labs, academic research laboratories, pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies.
Collaborates with the chair on various personnel actions (adjunct/NTA appointments, hiring new faculty, etc.).
Assists the chair with course scheduling, instructor assignment, room assignment, etc.
Gathers department budgetary needs and creates the departmental OTPS budget.
Assist with procurement: source quotes, submit requisitions, and send invoices for payment on CUNYBuy.
Creates annual reports to track student enrollment, job success post-graduation, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor?s degree required with experience in administrative work at an academic institution.

Supports projects, initiatives, and activities that impact an academic or administrative department.
Manages basic office functions such as communications, meeting schedules, work plans, staff assignments, and distributing information.
Collects data for, prepares, and distributes reports and presentations using word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software.
Updates office databases, lists, and files to ensure completeness and accuracy; maintains current information on department web site(s); maintains department archives and collections.
Conducts internet and/or database research and performs basic systems queries to locate information related to department activities.
Maintains department fiscal plans and budgets; assists in budget administration and invoice processing.
Provides basic information, instructions, and materials as requested by students, faculty, and others who contact the department.
May supervise office staff and student workers.
Performs related duties as assigned.
