Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Medical Education Specialist for NJMS- Assisted Treatment Center of Excellence.
The primary purpose for the Medical Education Specialist is to support the mission of the Northern New Jersey Medication-Assisted Treatment Center of Excellence (NNJ-MATrx-COE) in advancing healthcare outcomes by providing mentorship, technical assistance, and training to medical providers and healthcare stakeholders. This position combines clinical expertise with educational skills to enhance the quality of patient care and promote evidence-based practices in medication for opioid use disorder (MOUD). The Medical Education Specialist will collaborate with healthcare professionals to optimize medication management, foster best practices, reduce stigma, and contribute to overall success of the mission of the NNJ-MATrx-COE.
Among the key duties of the position are the following:
Deliver engaging and evidence-based educational presentations to healthcare providers, support staff, and other stakeholders. Disseminate information on pharmaceutical products, disease states, clinical guidelines, and best practices.
Establish and maintain strong working relationships with medical providers. Offer guidance and support through one-on-one academic detailing sessions, providing both technical and clinical guidance.
Assist healthcare professionals in resolving medication-related challenges pertaining to substance use disorder management.
Develops and conducts training sessions for healthcare providers and staff to enhance their understanding of medications and evidence-based treatment strategies for substance use disorders.
Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams, including physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals, to ensure the safe and effective use of medications, promotion of MOUD, and other evidence-based strategies for substance use disorders.
Collects and analyzes data related to medication utilization, adherence, and outcomes. Use this information to tailor educational interventions and improve patient care.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD), Registered Nurse (RN), or related degree from an accredited institution.
