Atrium Health Navicent The Medical Center, located in downtown Macon, Georgia, is a 637-bed not-for-profit, community-teaching hospital with a Level 1 Trauma Center and a Level-3 Neonatal Intensive Care.
The Medical Center’s practice site spans about four (4) city blocks in downtown Macon, Georgia and includes the Luce Heart Center, the Beverly Knight Olson Children’s Hospital, the Peyton Anderson Cancer Center as well as the W.T. Anderson Primary Care Clinic.
Atrium Health Navicent is part of a health-system which includes Atrium Health Charlotte, Wake Forest University, Advocate Health and Aurora Health Care.
The PGY1 residency program offered by Atrium Health Navicent (AHN) is a twelve month, 52 week post Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) training program that has been accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) since 1995. Following the guidelines and accreditation standards of an ASHP PGY1 Residency, this institution will place emphasis on the practice of diverse patient care and training residents to be well rounded and knowledgeable in all aspects of pharmaceutical care. The residency begins July 1st and continues through the end of June of the following year. Atrium Health Navicent is recruiting for 4 PGY-1 positions.
Required Learning Experiences: (each a calendar month in duration) Orientation, Adult Medicine I, Adult Medicine II, Antimicrobial Stewardship, Critical Care, Cardiology, Pediatrics, Ambulatory Care, Major Project (the month of December to allow to Midyear attendance and data collection time).
Required Year Long Learning Experiences: Practice Management/Drug Information, Pharmacy Practice, Major Project, Mentoring Program for the Resident
Staffing Requirements: Every other weekend, one evening shift per week, Off on major Holidays
Teaching Certificate and Precepting: A teaching certificate program through Mercer College of Pharmacy is offered (optional) and Central Georgia region for precepting Pharmacy Students
Possible Elective Learning Experiences: (choose 3) Advanced Pediatrics, Advanced Critical Care, Advanced Ambulatory Care, Inpatient Psychiatry, Emergency Medicine, Oncology, Advanced Practice Management, Advanced Antimicrobial Stewardship
Leadership and Professional Development: Participation and presentations at the system and state level, teaching certificate, preceptor development, ACLS and PALs.
Application Requirements: DEADLINE January 3rd Submission of application materials through PhORCAS, a letter of intent, curriculum vitae, official pharmacy school transcripts, at least 3 letters of recommendation through PhORCAS.
