Our PGY1 residency is a one-year clinical program designed to meet the three main requirements outlined by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, including acute patient care, practice foundation skills and practice management.
In our PGY1 residency, you’ll benefit from our unique training program that takes advantage of the wide variety of rotations and learning experiences within both acute and ambulatory care settings. Everything you learn about pharmacy practice will be based on our patient-centered mission of providing compassionate care.
The residency program is designed to provide a broad overview of institutional pharmacy practice and is tailored to meet the needs of each resident. Graduates will be prepared to provide advanced pharmaceutical care services to a wide variety of patients in diverse practice settings.

You get the resources of one of Washington’s leading medical centers
Kadlec Regional Medical Center is an acute-care, general and referral center offering a full range of adult/pediatric/neonatal medical, surgical and critical care services.
Our Pharmacy Department provides centralized and decentralized order entry with automated unit dose and IV admixture distribution.
Working under hospital protocols and outpatient collaborative drug therapy agreements, residents are responsible for initiating and adjusting medication therapy for a variety of patient populations. As a member of the healthcare team, residents work closely with providers, nurses and other healthcare disciplines. Residents are involved in interdisciplinary team rounds, education, committee work and stewardship activities, which will help develop practice leadership skills.
You get the support of one the West’s largest health care organizations
Kadlec Regional Medical Center is affiliated with Providence, one of the largest health care providers in the West with facilities in Alaska, Washington, Montana, Oregon, Texas, New Mexico and California. One of the reasons new pharmacy school graduates and residents decide to join us is that our clinical setting allows them to do much more of what they have trained to do. Our clinical pharmacists love the ongoing contact they get with people. The direct involvement in patient care and patient contact allows you to experience the rewards that come from the development of a practitioner-patient relationship.
