What Retail Pharmacy contributes to Cardinal Health Pharmacy Operations is responsible for the safe, efficient and effective coordination of Cardinal Health's pharmacy operations that service acute care hospitals, hospital retail customers, ambulatory care and alternate site facilities, oncology and cardiology practices as well as retail customers.
Retail Pharmacy is responsible for ensuring the correct and safe dispensing of prescription medications to the general public, in accordance with legal, ethical and professional guidelines; may also consult with and advise patients and physicians regarding prescribed and over-the-counter medications.
Job Summary
Cardinal Health is looking for a highly motivated pharmacy manager to lead and oversee a hospital-based outpatient specialty pharmacy located within Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. Duties include oversight and accountability for all administrative, financial, and operational aspects of a specialty pharmacy. In addition, duties may include dispensing, patient advocacy, accreditation and clinical support, patient consultation, medication therapy management, management of high-risk patients and complex drug therapies.
Responsibilities
Accountable for all aspects of the specialty pharmacy department's daily duties and operational performance, in addition to leading and directing pharmacy staff.
Responsible for dispensing and ensuring safe and efficient delivery of medications to all customers.
Maintains open communication and is available to customers and practitioner sites for consultation.
Provide professional consultation to both patients and prescribers of partner health facility.
Engages in the planning of new pharmacy initiatives and management of existing patient care programs.
Completes pharmacy operational requirements by organizing and directing technicians' workflow; verifying their preparation and labeling of pharmaceuticals; verifying order entries, charges, and inspections.
Maintain a professional presence throughout the designated facility and hospital.
Assure pharmacy services and activities are carried out to meet goals and standards of Cardinal Health, the client/hospital, and specialty accreditation bodies.
With assistance from Cardinal Health Subject Matter Experts, obtain specialty accreditation.
As Pharmacist-in-Charge, directly supervise specialty operation.
Supervise Pharmacotherapy Clinic staff.
Ensure adequate staffing is present to fulfill the needs of the pharmacy.
Maintain accurate records of all prescription medication received and dispensed.
Ensure policies are in place regarding accurate dispensing and labeling of prescriptions and those policies are followed.
Ensure that pharmacy and all pharmacy personnel comply with all Federal and State statutes, rules and regulations governing the practice of pharmacy.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in pharmacy or PharmD.
Must be a "good standing" licensed Pharmacist in the state of Tennessee.
2+ years of pharmacy management experience preferred.
4-8 years of specialty pharmacy experience preferred.
ACHC and URAC experience preferred.
340B experience preferred.
Exhibits strong leadership skills, outstanding interpersonal skills, a collaborative style, and a reputation for successfully working across departmental lines to implement new policies, procedures and programs.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and industry related software programs.
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to organize, plan and delegate appropriately.
