Postdoctoral Associate Positions in the Nwosu Lab
Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics
Cornell University
Ithaca, New York
The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Cornell University embraces diversity and seeks candidates who will contribute to a climate that supports students, faculty, and staff of all identities and backgrounds. We strongly encourage individuals from underrepresented and/or marginalized identities to apply. The Nwosu Lab is the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, CALS.
Position
The Nwosu lab has positions for two postdoctoral associates. Applicants should be enthusiastic about conducting research on cancer metabolism and specifically on delineating the role of glutathione (GSH) in pancreatic cancer. The project has various multidisciplinary contexts including a link to the tumor microenvironment/immunology, tumor subtypes, transcriptional and epigenetic regulation as well as therapeutic resistance. The project will require the use of cell lines and mouse models to mechanistically determine how GSH promotes cancer and the effect of targeting the GSH pathway on tumor growth. The successful applicants will have access to various already existing data that will ensure a smooth commencement of the project. Besides research, the applicants will be encouraged to participate in career development activities within and outside the university. Salaries are set at the NIH rate.
Anticipated Division of Time
Research: 95% - the successful postdocs will apply various methods including but not limited to cell culture, gene interference, biochemical assays, testing with pharmacological compounds and mouse models to interrogate the role of GSH in pancreatic cancer. The postdocs will write manuscripts, mentor students, interact with collaborators, and adopt and optimize relevant techniques for the project where applicable.
Professional development: 5%
Qualifications
PhD in molecular biology, cancer biology, biochemistry, tumor immunology, pharmaceutical sciences, and other life sciences is required.
Job Requirements
Experience in cell culture, cloning/molecular techniques, and mouse work is necessary. Basic knowledge of cancer biology is essential.
