Providence Health and Services, Oregon offers a unique residency training experience, with learning opportunities at our eight Local acute care hospitals and Regional teams in Oregon, as well as with our System pharmacy supporting 51 acute care hospitals across a multi-regional health system across multiple states (e.g., Oregon, Washington, California, Alaska, Montana, Texas, New Mexico).
Providence Health and Services, Oregon is an integrated health system with more than 1400 acute care beds as well as ambulatory, outpatient, home health and managed care services. Residents participate in a wide variety of rotations and leadership projects, work with interdisciplinary teams, hone practice management techniques and participate in delivering advanced pharmaceutical care. Residents will have a unique experience as this residency combines an ASHP Residency Excellence Award (2015) PGY1 program with robust management/leadership experiences as part of a large integrated health-system. Clinical strengths of the program include internal medicine, oncology, critical care, cardiology, infectious diseases, nutrition support, neonatal care, pediatrics, primary care, ambulatory geriatrics, home services/hospice, and anticoagulation management. Administration rotations include inpatient and outpatient operations, informatics, specialty pharmacy, health plan leadership, executive leadership, and strategic planning. Residents participate in the Portland CityWide Residency Conferences, have the opportunity to pursue the Oregon Pharmacy Teaching Certificate (OPTC) with local Colleges of Pharmacy, and gain valuable leadership and practice management skills. Providence residency programs are built upon a tradition of excellence and commitment to developing leaders within pharmacy practice.
The University of Providence School of Health Professions is proud to offer an innovative platform that allows residents in the Providence Health and Services Oregon combined PGY1/PGY2 program to simultaneously enroll for the MHA degree. The program is designed to take advantage of efficiencies in both the residency and MHA programs. The MHA is fully funded by the residency program.
We currently offer one position for the combined PGY-1/PGY-2 Health-System Pharmacy Administration Residency and Leadership / MHA Program.
If you are interested in our program, please message us through PPS to schedule an interview during one of our interview sessions at Midyear (Booth 7316). If you have any additional questions prior to Midyear, feel free to contact our current residents or program director.
