Long Island Jewish Medical Center is currently offering a PGY-1 pharmacy residency program to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists responsible for the medication-related care of patients with a wide range of conditions. This program will build on Doctor of Pharmacy education and outcomes and make residents eligible for board certification and PGY-2 pharmacy residency training.
The PGY-1 pharmacy residency at Long Island Jewish Medical Center is a twelve-month structured training program focusing on acute care. This ASHP-accredited residency has core and elective learning experiences delivered longitudinally or in four-week blocks, which are tailored to meet the needs and interests of the resident. The program is designed to enhance the resident’s skills and competence in providing optimal pharmaceutical care to diverse patient populations.
As part of the training, the resident will develop a broad understanding of pharmacotherapeutic principles, as well as ethical and socioeconomic issues affecting medical care and pharmacy practice. Additionally, the resident will build on his or her practice management and leadership skills through administrative functions, including participation in LIJMC and Northwell initiatives, and networking with other residents and pharmacists throughout the hospital and health system. Furthermore, the resident will have multiple opportunities to precept and teach pharmacy students, partake in educational activities and acquire a teaching certificate.

Applicants interested in the pharmacy residency program at Long Island Jewish Medical Center should apply through the Pharmacy Online Residency Centralized Application Service (PhORCAS). Applications must be submitted by January 8th.
