Assistance in maintaining compliance with applicable local, state and federal regulations pertaining to the use of hazardous materials, infectious agents, and the operation of high containment research facilities; assistance with the development, support and regular reviews of the university's return to campus plans, teaching and research plans; ensuring that MSU faculty, staff, students, volunteers and visitors understand and comply with the university's return to work, research and teaching requirements; evaluating and addressing PPE requirements for BSL-3 laboratories; coordinating the establishment and implementation of biosafety, security and laboratory standard operating procedures and processes for the common areas of all high containment laboratories; staying current with CDC, OSHA, state and local pandemic regulatory.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in industrial hygiene, occupational health/safety, chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, microbiology, virology or closely related field of study; 3 years of experience as an Epidemiology Laboratory Coordinator/Director or Chemist. Experience must include: Experience with GAP analysis, risk assessments, fault tree, failure mode event, and hazard operability analysis, and use of Incident BowTie, Event Tree, and other computing tools for biosafety and biosecurity, inspections and audits using ISO standards. Must have certification or eligibility to be certified in the comprehensive practice of industrial hygiene.
