The PGY1 Pharmacy Residency at Montefiore Medical Center seeks to develop a pharmacist into a more highly trained, competent and confident health-system pharmacy practitioner. The resident is accountable for achieving positive and safe patient outcomes. The resident provides pharmaceutical care, and education of patients and health care professionals as a member of an interdisciplinary health-care team. Our program allows for added emphasis on drug therapy outcomes through research and quality improvement initiatives, professional development, and writing/publishing depending upon the individual resident's plan. Health-system clinical pharmacy specialists serve as preceptors for residents throughout core learning experiences in practice management, acute care, and ambulatory care
