Northeastern University Pharmaceutical Industry Fellowships Program is a two-year experiential program designed to advance lifelong learning and the education and training of Pharm.D. graduates. Critical to the success of the program is our ability to prepare Fellows to meet the ongoing workforce needs in various areas of industry.
Our program gives fellows an opportunity to work with our innovative biopharmaceutical industry partners while collaborating with Northeastern University faculty in professional and career development, service, scholarship, and teaching.
In partnership with Northeastern University, Takeda Pharmaceuticals is offering a two-year Clinical Sciences PharmD/PhD fellowship based in Cambridge, MA.

Takeda Gastrointestinal and Inflammation (GI2) Clinical Sciences group is within Research and Development. Clinical Sciences leads clinical development programs to bring medicines to patients with gastrointestinal, inflammatory and liver diseases. Clinical Sciences at Takeda provides medical and scientific support across the asset lifecycle, from early clinical development to marketed products for the Gastrointestinal and Inflammation therapeutic area. The two-year Takeda Clinical Science Fellowship Program is designed to prepare post-doctoral scholars for rewarding careers in the biopharmaceutical industry. Fellows will learn the day-to-day role of Clinical Sciences on global matrixed teams by leading and contributing to the design, implementation, monitoring, analysis and reporting of clinical studies. The overarching program goal is to empower Fellows to be high achieving clinical leaders that bring transformational medicines to patients.
In year one, fellows will have rotational experiences across various ongoing development programs in clinical sciences. Fellows may also opt to elect a 3-month rotational experience in another functional area of interest. The integrative Clinical Sciences experience allows fellows to gain exposure while supporting typical daily workflows and potentially leading high impact projects. In year two, the fellow will be fully immersed in one asset in the Clinical Sciences team, along with the opportunity to work autonomously as a clinical scientist.
Responsibilities may include:
Oversee clinical study execution and planning
Contribute to Clinical Sciences strategy
Provide clinical and scientific subject matter expertise
Writing of case reports, publications, and clinical study reports
Attend conferences and engage the scientific community
Protocol authoring and amendments
Collaboration with Clinical Operations, Statistics, Regulatory, and other cross-functional teams
Medical monitoring of clinical data
Engage with external partners such as Clinical Research Organizations (CROs) and Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs)
The fellowship program goal is to provide fellows with competitive skillsets for Clinical Sciences positions and embolden fellows to be high achieving clinical leaders in their career.
Qualifications:
Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an ACPE accredited institution, eligible for licensure as a pharmacist in the State of Massachusetts or Doctor of Philosophy degree in a biological or physical science.
Excellent oral and written communication, time management, and leadership skills, ability to work independently and take initiative on a variety of projects at the industry site and Northeastern.
