As a PGY1 Pharmacy Resident, you will embark on a comprehensive training program aimed at developing your clinical skills, enhancing your patient care abilities, and preparing you for a successful career in pharmacy practice. It is an intensive 12-month postgraduate year one (PGY1) pharmacy residency program (ASHP- 2023 Candidate Status). The purpose of the pharmacy Resident is to provide clinical services to the patients of the hospital, in addition to accurate, safe, efficient, and pharmaceutical services, either directly or indirectly, through the supervised efforts of supportive staff. The resident participates in a departmental training program designed to develop the knowledge and skills needed to provide pharmaceutical care, including rational pharmacotherapy and the delivery of appropriate product-related services. Rotations include Orientation, Internal Medicine I, Internal Medicine II (ICU&ID), Emergency Department, Behavior Health Department, Ambulatory Care, Poison Control Center in Tucson, Oncology, Wound Care Cardiology, Teaching Certificate through the University of Arizona, Research & Medication-Use Evaluation, Advanced Pharmacy Practice (staffing), Practice Management & Pharmacy Administration I & II.

Pharmacy Resident is a licensed pharmacist in an intensive 12-month postgraduate year one (PGY1) pharmacy residency program. At the end of the year, residents are eligible for board certification and eligible for postgraduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency training. The resident participates in a departmental training program designed to develop the knowledge and skills needed to provide pharmaceutical care, including rational pharmacotherapy and the delivery of appropriate product-related services, such as Internal Medicine, Intensive Care Unit, Emergency Department, Behavior Health Department, Wound Care, Ambulatory Care, Toxicology, Teaching Certificate through the University of Arizona, Research, Antimicrobial Stewardship, Hospital Pharmacy Practice (staffing), Pharmacy Management, Pharmacy Leadership and Pharmacy Orientation. Resident must progress over the course of the residency to be more efficient, effective, and able to work independently in providing direct patient care.
