Reporting to the Director of Athletics at York College (CUNY), an NCAA DIII institution and member of the CUNYAC conference, the Head Athletic Trainer will be responsible for the management of day-to-day operations of the Sports Medicine and Athletic Training Room areas. Working in conjunction and consultation with the designated team physician, the Head Certified Athletic Trainer will oversee practice and contest coverage for all of York College???s sport programs, supervise general training room services, travel to provide coverage at away contests (as needed), and coordinate the student-athlete strength and conditioning program. The Head Athletic Trainer will also manage the purchasing of materials and supplies, and serve as a sport administrator as assigned by the Director of Athletics & Recreation.
TheHead Athletic Trainer???sresponsibilities includes the CUNY Title Overview, but are not limited to the following:
-Evaluates physical condition, advises and treats student-athletes to maintain physical fitness for participation in athletic participation (practice, conditioning, competition).
Prescribes routine and corrective exercises to strengthen muscles and uses therapeutic modalities to treat athletic injuries and conditions.
Renders first aid to injured student-athletes.
Maintains accurate documentation of athletic injuries and other medical conditions.
Follows all HIPAA rules as instructed.
Abide by all policies, practices, and philosophies of the Intercollegiate Athletic Program, York College, and City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC).
Evening and weekend hours required, if/as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree and four years' related experience required as well as National Athletic Trainers Association certification.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree
4-5 years??? experience in sports medicine related field
NYS Certification or ability to gain certification within the first year of employment
American Red Cross CPR/FA instructor preferred
Valid driver's license required. License must meet insurance company rules and regulations for driving underwriting criteria
Strong presentation and interpersonal skills
CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW
Develops, coordinates and administers a comprehensive training and sports medicine program for intercollegiate sports and provides related professional and administrative services.
Develops and maintains a program of preventive physical care for student-athletes; and coordinates physical examination screenings
Supervises treatment and referral of injuries and interfaces directly with medical personnel in the treatment of such athletes; coordinates rehabilitation programs; may administer related insurance program(s)
Determines and ensures the acquisition of safety equipment and supplies applicable to each intercollegiate sport
Supervises maintenance of statistical records of team injuries and medical data
Assists coaches in planning and instructing physical training programs for athletes.
Plans and schedules the purchasing of all sports medical program supplies and equipment within allocated budget parameters
Recruits, instructs, supervises and reviews the performance of training staff
Performs related duties as assigned.

Salary range for this appointment is $70,238 - $75,465 - Salary commensurate with education and experience.
