Specialty Pharmacy is an exciting, dynamic, and continually growing area of pharmacy practice at Michigan Medicine. These medications are high-cost medications used to treat patients with specialized diseases requiring complex treatment and coordinated care.
To perform activities relating to the packaging/shipment, storing, and delivery of medications and pharmaceutical supplies under the supervision of a pharmacist, supervisor, resident, or other designated official.
Package medication orders in appropriate pack-outs and with correct shipping information.
Accurately interpret information on routing slip and encounter to insure delivery location and appropriate packaging materials.
Quickly and accurately address order discrepancies and address with appropriate team members.
Participate in the documentation of patient care activities within the health record and/or dispensing system.
Stock and maintain shipping supplies at workstations.
Participate in audits and inspections which support regulatory and compliance standards
Effectively communicate with other pharmacy team members.
Respond to internal and external customers demonstrating service excellence.
Other duties as assigned by a pharmacist, supervisor, resident, or other designated officialto assist with preparation and delivery of patient medications and other patient care needs.
The percentage mix of these duties will vary depending on the functional area where the employee is assigned.
High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education (GED)
0-2 years of experience.
Proficient communication, computer, and basic mathematic skills are necessary.
Must be able to multitask and prioritize with accuracy and dependability.
Must be able to perform a wide range of physical activities including pushing, pulling, lifting, bending, kneeling, reaching, etc.
Must be able to lift 50lb.
Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.
