The PGY1 Pharmacy Residency at Banner Estrella Medical Center offers a comprehensive training with emphasis on clinical pharmaceutical care. The purpose of this program is to build on Doctor of Pharmacy education and outcomes to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists responsible for medication-related care of patients with a wide range of conditions, eligible of board certification, and eligible for postgraduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency training. Pharmacy residents advance their knowledge and skills to become competent clinical practitioners through both block and longitudinal experiences.
Banner Estrella Medical Center (BEMC) is a 317-bed community hospital with a full array of services. The hospital opened in 2005 in the Southwest Phoenix area to meet the health care needs of the growing West Valley community. Our second patient tower opened in March 2014 and upon full expansion adds 144 beds to the campus. Our level 4 trauma Emergency Department is also one of the busiest in the state.
