The PGY2 Oncology Pharmacy Residency Program at Banner - University Medical Center Tucson and The University of Arizona Cancer Center is a 12-month program for training residents with an interest in oncology, hematology, stem cell transplant, and investigational drug research. The program was established in 2016 and currently has one PGY2 oncology resident. Upon successful completion of the residency program, a certificate will be awarded to the resident by The University of Arizona College of Pharmacy, The University of Arizona Cancer Center and Banner - University Medical Center Tucson. The University of Arizona Cancer Center is the only NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center headquartered in the state of Arizona and is engaged in over 200 clinical trials.
The PGY2 Oncology Pharmacy Residency provides a well-rounded experience in acute and ambulatory medical oncology, hematology, and stem cell transplant. The PGY2 oncology resident will be actively involved in the therapeutic decision-making process and clinical outcomes for cancer patients. In addition, the resident will gain experiences in teaching, precepting, clinical research, and quality improvement. The philosophy of the program is to instill in the resident an oncology pharmacy practice that focuses on the pharmaceutical care model.
