Associate Specialist- Zaro Lab - 2023/24 Zaro Lab Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry University of California, San Francisco
We are a collaborative basic science research group studying regulatory mechanisms of the innate immune system. We are looking for a lab technician interested in gaining lab operational/management skills to develop animal protocols and oversee lab inventory and safety protocols. The ideal candidate will have experience working with animals, particularly rodents, and will be familiar with humane research practices and standard safety procedures. The candidate should also have a track record of organizational responsibilities, including developing and maintaining standard operating procedures (SOPs), overseeing lab inventory (ordering, tracking, follow up), and training people in new job responsibilities. The candidate will be responsible for maintaining lab regulatory records and monitoring and updating lab databases. The ideal candidate will be able to communicate professionally and concisely, and will be able to independently set and meet deadlines. As the lab operates as a team, the candidate should also be able to provide feedback and advice to other lab members, including written abstracts, PowerPoint presentations, and posters.
Masters degree (MA/MS)
Must have 5 years combined hands-on experience working with rodents, managing a rodent colony, animal care, animal diagnostics
Must have experience with inventory management
Must have experience organizing and maintaining regulatory records and safety documentation
Basic computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google software

Experience and understanding of standard molecular biology techniques, including PCR, western blot
Screening of applicants will begin immediately and will continue as needed throughout the recruitment period. Salary will be commensurate with the applicants experience and training.
See Table 24B for the salary range for this position. A reasonable estimate for this position is $70,500-$82,100.
