Description:
The incumbent will work in a highly collaborative and interdisciplinary research team working with tissue-engineered disease models/organoids, validation using patient tissues and rodent models to probe mechanistic pathways. The incumbent will conduct molecular/cellular biology assays, biochemical assays, rodent surgeries, (80% bench work) and general laboratory maintenance (10-20%).
Duties & Responsibilities
Keeping accurate record of the experiments suitable for writing manuscripts and grant proposals.
Presenting the results at scientific meetings.
Perform experiments, analyze data, and present results in addition to designing, optimizing, and troubleshooting existing and newly developed experimental protocols, in the laboratory.
Attend mandatory lab meetings weekly and provide input into project design, experimental process, and data analysis.
Responsible for general lab maintenance and administration including review and assist in lab orders and inventories of chemicals, purchasing and maintenance of laboratory equipment, handling and storage involving breast cancer and other tissue samples (both human and mouse), and maintaining laboratory records and study protocols.
Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in science, molecular biology, biological sciences or related field required. Master's degree in science preferred.
A minimum of 3 years related research experience.
Possesses and applies comprehensive knowledge of research principles, concepts, practices, and methods.
Proficient in specific lab research techniques.
Experience with in vivo breast cancer models and ability to perform small animal surgeries in a preclinical setting is required.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong organizational, planning, data management, writing and communication skills as well as proficiency in computer software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe products, statistical software) are critical.
Experience demonstrating independence in cell culture, immunofluorescence/immunohistochemistry, molecular/cellular biology techniques including DNA and RNA isolation, quantitative real time PCR, protein assays, ELISA, Western blotting, immunoprecipitation, cell proliferation and viability assays and in vivo rodent models.
Previous experience with lab work.
