PURPOSE OF POSITION
The purpose of the PGY-2 pharmacy resident position is to build upon Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education and PGY1 pharmacy residency training to develop pharmacist practitioners with knowledge, skills, and abilities as defined in the educational competency areas, goals, and objectives for advanced practice areas. Residents who successfully complete PGY2 residency programs are prepared for advanced patient care or other specialized positions, and board certification in the advanced practice area, if available.
RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS
Residents actively participate in the provision of evidence-based, cost-effective, quality pharmaceutical care within the Emergency Department and related areas of the pharmacy department. They will demonstrate competency in the required goals, objectives, and appendices of the program as outlined by ASHP by the completion of the residency year. Residents who are in good standing, complete all of the goals and objectives, and satisfactorily complete all assigned work and assignments will receive a certificate of successful program completion.
The Aultman Hospital PGY2 Emergency Medicine Pharmacy Residency program offers experiences in the Aultman Hospital Emergency Department at a level II trauma center, STEMI receiving center, and Primary Stroke Center as well as the Aultman Orrville Critical Access Hospital. This EM pharmacy residency boasts strong collaborative relationship with the emergency medicine medical residency program in addition to emergency medicine-focused medication safety training, infectious disease experts, and critical care experience.
