The PGY2 in Ambulatory Care at the UAMS College of Pharmacy has 2 sites, one on the Little Rock campus and one in Fayetteville. Applicants may apply to either or both campuses, but the residency year will be spent at whichever site to which they match. Experiences at both sites include family medicine, internal medicine, anticoagulation, and telehealth clinics as well as an interprofessional, student-led, free clinic. Opportunities in specialty practices are available for electives.
The resident will gain experience managing various disease states and be exposed to a variety of practice types, including interdisciplinary team-based care, collaborative practice, and indigent care. Additionally, the resident will complete the UAMS College of Pharmacy Teaching Certificate Program and be involved in the education of Pharm.D. students, medical students, PGY1 pharmacy residents, and resident physicians. The resident will also complete the UAMS Research Certificate Program and design and conduct a research project to be presented at a state or national meeting.
Applicants must have obtained a degree in pharmacy from an American Council on Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE)-accredited college or have a Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Examination Committee (FPGEC) certificate from the NABP. Candidates must have completed an ASHP-accredited PGY1 program or be in the process of completion. Applicants in a program with pending accreditation status may also be considered. Candidates must also be eligible for licensure in the state of Arkansas.
