The Stormont Vail Health PGY1 Pharmacy Residency program offers a variety of pharmaceutical patient care and leadership experiences. Our program is purpose-built to prepare residents to meet current workforce demands and develop into high-functioning practitioners, leading advancements in health care. Graduates will be able to rely on enhanced skills in clinical judgement, critical analysis, practice self-management, teamwork, and leadership to pursue any career path. Our goal is to build on core experiential competencies and previous experiences to promoteour residents’ personal and professional growth. We strive to tailor our program to meet the needs and interests of our residents to achieve the best possible experience, resulting in both immediate and long-term growth and success.
Must be a graduate of an ACPE accredited school of pharmacy with a PharmD or equivalent. Applications must include academic transcript, letter of intent, curriculum vitae, and 3 letters of recommendation. Applicants must be permanent US residents (or possess a Student Visa expiring in June or July of the residency completion year and obtain a Social Security number prior to employment). Residents must have a Kansas pharmacy intern license prior to their residency start date and obtain their Kansas pharmacist license no later than 90 days from the start of the residency year.
Stormont Vail Health offers 4 PGY1 Pharmacy resident positions and 1 PGY2 Emergency Medicine Pharmacy position.
Located in Topeka, Kansas, Stormont Vail Health is an integrated health system, comprised of Stormont Vail Hospital, Cotton O’Neil, and Cotton O’Neil Pediatrics.
The hospital is a 586-bed acute care referral center. Stormont Vail achieved Magnet recognition for excellence in nursing services in 2009. Stormont Vail has the region’s only Level III Neonatal Intensive Care and only verified trauma center, certified Level II by ACS. As a part of the Mayo Clinic Care Network, patients have the ability to access Mayo Clinic’s research, diagnostic, and treatment resources through their local doctor. We also have additional Joint Commission accreditations for Advanced Primary Stroke Center, Advanced Total Hip/Knee Replacement, Chest Pain, Perinatal Care, and NICU Prematurity.
