Guthrie, located in rural north central PA and south central NY, is a non-profit integrated health care delivery system. Robert Packer Hospital, the residency's primary location, is a 288-bed tertiary care, level I trauma, teaching referral center.
This residency will provide opportunities for post-graduate pharmacists seeking professional growth beyond entry-level competence. Learning experiences focus on patient care in areas to include:
Critical care (rounding on adult medical critical care team is a core experience)
Internal medicine
Antibiotic stewardship
Cardiology (inpatient and ambulatory)
Emergency medicine
Medication safety
Pharmacy leadership
Teaching/learning (ASHP teaching certificate is available)
Ambulatory infusion (focus on hazardous and sterile medication compounding)
Project (Pharmacy Clinical Research Microcredential is available)
Longitudinal staffing (currently every 3rd weekend and one evening every 3rd weekend)

Community Hospital Pharmacy (at a non teaching hospital - Cortland, NY)
Adult medicine (at a non-teaching hospital - Corning, NY)
Emergency Medical Response (longitudinal)

Affiliation with multiple colleges of pharmacy including Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, Binghamton University School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Wilkes University School of Pharmacy
Guthrie RPH is a campus for the Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine.
Possess a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an ACPE-accredited college of pharmacy or Foreign Graduate with NABP certificate
Be eligible for paid work in United States
Be eligible for licensure in Pennsylvania within 120 days after start of residency
Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital will be participating in the Resident Matching Program and The Pharmacy Online Residency Centralized Application Service (PhORCAS). Residency candidates must also participate in both.

Potential candidates will be invited for a virtual interview, which will involve giving a brief presentation and working up a complex case.
Licensure Requirements
Pharmacy residents are required to be licensed in the state of Pennsylvania. Failure to obtain licensure prior to or within 120 days after program start date may result in dismissal from the program.
Residents who fail to make satisfactory progress on any residency goals and objectives are subject to dismissal, as stated in policies set forth by the program.
