Position Summary:
UCI Health Affairs - encompassing Susan & Henry Samueli College of Health Sciences (COHS) and UCI Health - is translating the tripartite mission of 'Discover. Teach. Heal.' to drive groundbreaking scientific discoveries, translate the latest research into clinical application, and training of a future-focused workforce in healthcare. The college comprises the School of Medicine, the Sue & Bill Gross School of Nursing, the School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences, the Program in Public Health (Future School of Population & Public Health), the Susan Samueli Integrative Health Institute, and research units focused on cancer, clinical translational science, precision health, and stem cells. In robust synergy with UCI Health, the only academic health system in Orange County, UCI is transforming education, discovery, and patient care to benefit the region, state, and nation.
Under minimal direction, incumbent is responsible for ensuring efficient, innovative, and high-quality daily operations for the immediate office of the Vice Chancellor Health Affairs. Incumbent plays an important role in creating a positive work environment with high employee engagement, productivity, and wellbeing across the units within the College of Health Sciences. Incumbent develops business operations processes and policies, oversees projects, manages space, and resolves technical and facility issues with campus partners. Incumbent also manages highly complex events, including high visibility events involving influential or important friends or members of the campus community. May orchestrate large scale events in support of the campus, which include senior campus management, University executives, faculty, international dignitaries and government officials. Incumbent must use advanced operational concepts and objectives to resolve highly complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Incumbent will achieve success by building and sustaining collaborative relationships at all levels of the university, as well as with external entities.

$78,900.00 - $145,100.00 (Annual Salary)
Required:
5-7 years of relevant experience.
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Advanced project management skills. Dedicated experience conducting administrative, research and organizational analysis, including data- gathering from various sources, creating and compiling databases, creating reports, and formulating solutions. Thorough knowledge of organizational or initiative processes, protocols and procedures. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and influence, both verbally and in writing. Demonstrated ability to provide leadership, using excellent interpersonal skills, to direct the work of individuals who may not be direct reports and for projects of cross-functional teams. Ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality. Skill in analyzing unusual and complex operational issues and defining problems and objectives; identifying relevant concerns or factors; formulating logical conclusions and alternatives. Demonstrated oral communication skills to provide complex information to persons with varying backgrounds and levels of authority. Demonstrated skill to make presentations and/or conduct training for employees, staff and academic supervisors and managers. Written communication skills to produce clear and concise documents of professional quality. Supervisory skills to direct guide and evaluate the efforts of administrative support staff. Ability to work with a variety of computer software including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), database management, electronic mail, collaboration, and other applications. Willingness to work evenings and weekends, as required. Willingness to travel between the Irvine and Orange campuses, and other UC campuses/laboratories, medical centers/systemwide offices.
Preferred:
Master's Degree preferred.
Ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes. Skill in leading teams and working as a team member on a variety of operational and administrative projects. Working knowledge of university and campus policies and procedures. Experience working in higher education or public sector.
Special Conditions Required:
May be required to drive on occasion in order to perform the routine or essential job responsibilities for the position. Must possess a valid California driver license and participate in the DMV Pull Notice Program.
