York College, founded in 1966, is a center of academic excellence in the heart of Jamaica, Queens. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Planning and Budget, the Controller is responsible for overseeing the accounting operations for all revenue and expenses associated with Tuition & Fees, Auxiliary Enterprises Corporation, the York College Foundation, the Student Government Association, the Child & Family Center, and Adult & Continuing Education, SUNY Educational Opportunity Center at York College, FDA and other related entities as may be established. Typical duties include:
Directs the financial operations for various funds and accounts within the College.
Oversee the operations of Accounts Payable, Accounting, Mail, and Printing areas.
Oversee the Purchasing and Asset Management functions to ensure compliance with all appropriate CUNY and NYS Procurement regulations.
Manage financial resources in a fiscally responsible manner and comply with various legal regulations and University policies.
Develop and manage relationships with regard to fiduciary responsibilities with external institutions, including government agencies, corporations, and funding entities.
Manage day-to-day accounting functions related to closings, reconciliations, and analyses for the College and related entities.
Oversee the preparation and management of college financial audits.
Act as a Liaison with internal and external financial auditors to ensure timely completion of all College audits.
Participate in planning and executing improvements in business processes and efficiency.
Develop, implement, and direct comprehensive accounting systems.
Manage target projections and actual revenues.
Develops, implements, and directs comprehensive accounting systems.
Oversees preparation of consolidated financial statements and reports.
Supervises staff to ensure that specifications for required project deliverables are met.
Maintains security and integrity of sensitive fiscal data.
Performs related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree and eight years' related experience required.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Health Plan Coverage for Employees Hired on or after October 1, 2022 City of New York employees and employees of Participating Employers and their eligible dependents hired on or after October 1, 2022 will only be eligible to enroll in the EmblemHealth HIP HMO Preferred Plan and must remain in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan for the first year (365 days) of employment.
After 365 days of employment, the employee will have the option of either remaining in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan or selecting a different health plan within 30 days before the end of the 365th day period.
If a new health plan is selected, the new plan will be effective on the 366th day.
Only after the 365th day can the employee participate in any Annual Fall Transfer Period. An employee who needs to request an exemption from the required enrollment in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan can do so by submitting a HIP HMO Opt-Out Request Form to EmblemHealth. An employee, or eligible dependent, must meet certain criteria and the request must be approved by EmblemHealth before the exemption is granted. The HIP HMO Opt-Out Request Form and HIP service area are available on the EmblemHealth website.
