Licensed Optometrist, OD. Part-time from 7-14 hours per week: The NYU Student Health Center (SHC) Specialty Unit is seeking a part-time Optometrist to provide eye care services 7-14 hours/wk for our population of more than 50,000 NYU undergraduates and graduate students. Working on-site in a dedicated Optometry suite, the Optometrist will perform routine eye care, diagnosis of eye diseases, treatment of diseases consistent with NYS law, including:
Comprehensive eye exams
Routine Visual Evaluation
Routine dilated fundus examination
Visual Field Testing
Fitting of Soft and RGP contact lenses, including evaluation of existing lenses the patient is wearing
Emergency office visits
Consulting with ophthalmologist regarding patientâ™s condition
Working with a motivated and diverse student population is rewarding, and the team works well together to assure the best service in support of students' academic success
Required Education/licensures/certifications: OD degree Licensed as an optometrist in New York State Certification in the use of Therapeutic Pharmaceutical Agents (TPAs) BLS certification.
Required Experience: Minimum 2 years clinical experience as an Optometrist, eligibility to obtain medical liability insurance. Approval for clinical privileges by the Credentials Committee.
Preferred Experience: Experience working in a multi-specialty and/or Student Health practice setting.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Excellent interpersonal, analytical, problem solving, and written and verbal communication skills. Ability to interact with individuals at all levels.
In compliance with NYCâ™s Pay Transparency Act, the hourly rate range for this position is $60 - $100.
