About the Department
The University of Cincinnati James L. Winkle College of Pharmacy invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track, 12-month faculty position in the Division of Pharmacy Practice and Administrative Sciences at the level of Assistant Professor focused in community pharmacy practice at the Kroger Health Center for Advanced Community Care. The James L. Winkle College of Pharmacy is located on the Health Sciences Campus in close proximity to the third ranked children's hospital in the nation, Cincinnati's Children's Hospital Medical Center, the Cincinnati Veteran's Administration Medical Center, and level I trauma center, University of Cincinnati Medical Center. The college is also centrally located to the Colleges of Medicine, Nursing, and Allied Health Professions. This location facilitates partnerships in teaching, service, and research. Kroger Health, the healthcare division of The Kroger Co., is one of America's leading community healthcare organizations, with over 2,200 community pharmacies and 220 clinics in 35 states serving more than 14 million customers. The Center for Advanced Community Care is located within The University of Cincinnati James L. Winkle College of Pharmacy. Pharmacists at the Center for Advanced Community Care provide medication therapy management services and comprehensive medication reviews for patients of Kroger Health.
Job Overview
The successful candidate will perform pharmaceutical research in the areas of transdermal, topical, ocular, dental, and oral cavity. Overseeing lab operations and maintenance of lab equipment. Communication with outside entities such as vendors, equipment companies, and tissue banks. Supervision of graduate students.
Essential Functions
Independently perform experiments and records data according to research protocols.
May maintain and oversee animal colony management and animal husbandry.
Solve problems using combined research knowledge.
Analyze research results. Interpret data and assist in judging validity of data.
Organize data search and analysis procedures.
Assist in establishing test controls, criteria and research standards.
Assist with the design of complex data processing systems to analyze research data.
Accomplish assigned results for projects/studies, or for significant aspects of larger, complex assignments.
Serve as seasoned professional.
May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.).

Required Education
Bachelor's Degree.
Seven (7) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.
Required Experience
Three (3) years of relevant experience.
Additional related work experience may be required depending on field or discipline.
Additional Qualifications Considered
More than 10 years of experience in pharmaceutical research in the areas of transdermal, topical, dental, and oral cavity.
More than 20 years of experience in biomedical research.
Knowledge in the operation, maintenance, and repair of HPLC, liquid scintillation counter, and spectrophotometer.
Engineering skills to modify and build apparatus/equipment such as diffusion cell, heating module, and dissolution chamber for research studies in drug delivery.
Skills in designing prototypes of devices for drug delivery.
Experience in obtaining and handling animal and human cadaver tissues.
Experience in supervising graduate students.
Experience with the researches in the College of Pharmacy, UC.
Good communication and writing skills.
