Description:
The Clinical Practice Data Analyst will work under the supervision of the Director of Finance and provide assistance to the Assistant Director of Finance, Finance Manager & Business Administrative Associate (BAA). Responsibilities may include gathering and analyzing financial data, generating reports, and serving as both point-person for general day to day operations, and liaison for activities with external agencies and/or University Office of Business Financial Services (OBFS) representatives.
The salary range for this position is $60,000.00 - $85,000.00. This is a full-time and benefits eligible position. Hybrid and flexible work schedules are available. UIC offers competitive salaries commensurate with experience. Duties & Responsibilities
1. Abstract data from Electronic Health Record (EHR) System:
A) Utilize EHR reporting and querying tools to define, locate, and retrieve accurate information.
B) Reconcile data inconsistencies to select optimal information using resources available, which may include consultation with clinical and business intelligence experts as necessary.
2. Analyze and report out on current and past financial data and performance. 3. Troubleshoot discrepancies in University fund balances and transactions through validating data, determining appropriate action to resolve the error, and eliminating reoccurrence. 4. Utilize spreadsheets, databases and other similar data processing tools to automate data analysis models and build data visualizations. 5. Identify trends in financial performance and provide recommendations for improvement. 6. Develop, support, and maintain Ambulatory Care Pharmacy internal databases and overall data infrastructure. 7. Coordinate with the Ambulatory Care Pharmacy and University IT teams to ensure clinical EHR data is validated and EHR generated reports are accurate. 8. Serve as a financial representative of the College and Department of Pharmacy Practice to communicate with other campuses, external organizations, and auditors. 9. Support data analytic projects for the Department of Pharmacy Practice as needed. 10. Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Science, Information Management, Healthcare Information, Nursing, Information Technology, Computer Science, Statistics, Finance, Management Engineering, Business or closely related fields or as required by the position to be filled in the area of specialization inherent in the position may be required.
One (1) year (12 months) of data management/analyst work experience in a clinical or healthcare related field.
Demonstrated clinical data analytics experience in working with data sets containing large amounts of clinical pharmacy and financial information.
**Applicants possessing a Master's degree, in a closely related field, meet the requirements for #1 above
Preferred Qualifications:
Master or PhD in data analytics and/or statistics.
Three (3) years of data management/analyst work experience in a clinical or healthcare related field.
Pharmaceutical work experience.
Knowledge of data visualization software (e.g., Tableau).
Experience handling confidential and/or HIPAA protected information is desirable.
Knowledge of relational databases, query reporting, and report specification development.
Knowledge of database and report writing software such as SQL, Microsoft Access, SAS, Business Objects, and/or Crystal reporting.
Proficiency with Excel and a statistical package such as SAS, SPSS, or Minitab.
Project management and time management skills.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Ability to learn and utilize new software applications for data entry and reporting.
Analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to details.
