The University of Southern California (USC) School of Pharmacy seeks a Postdoctoral Researcher to join the laboratories of Drs Daryl Davies and Paul Seidler and in the Departments of Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacology & Pharmaceutical Sciences. The focus of this joint position is to develop chemical formulations that support healthy aging by leveraging natural products as dietary supplements.  Programs under investigation include Alzheimerâs Disease (AD) and Alcoholic Liver Disease (ALD). The PIs laboratories have developed water soluble formulations of natural products with measured activity to inhibit ex vivo prionogenic transmission (seeding) of Alzheimerâs tau. These formulations are also seen to protect against liver disease in ALD rodent models. The successful candidate will advance both arms of research by conducting pharmacokinetic studies of in-house water-soluble natural product formulations in rodent models and investigating dose-related efficacies in ALD and tau mouse models. The candidate should be comfortable leading a small team of researchers comprised of M.S. and undergraduate students. A firm understanding of analytical chemistry and pharmacology is highly desired, and prior experience with animal handling, mass spectrometry and immunohistochemistry is beneficial.  As part of their training and research the candidate can expect to interact with both PIs and members of their labs, as well as the USC School of Pharmacy Mass Spectrometry Core Lab and collaborating PIs specializing in formulation chemistry, PK/PD, and Pharmacy Regulatory and Quality Sciences.
Desired scientific qualifications of the applicant include a Ph.D. in Pharmacology, Toxicology, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biological Sciences, or another closely related field of study. The candidate should exhibit excellent communication and meticulous documentation skills. Â
Interested applicants may submit the following:Â
1. Curriculum Vitae
2. Statement of prior research experience, training expectations, and future career ambitions
3. Names and contact information for three references
