MAIN FUNCTION: Under the direction of the Director of Pharmacy and the Residency Program Director, the resident will complete required clinical and administrative educational rotations, will perform duties as a staff pharmacist, and is responsible for the safe and appropriate use of pharmaceuticals throughout the hospital. The PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Resident holds primary responsibility for interpreting medication orders, obtaining, preparing, and dispensing medications, and providing drug information.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Must successfully match through the NMS Pharmacy residency match system
PharmD from an ACPE accredited college or university required
Must become a Registered Pharmacist in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts within 90 days of hire
ACLS preferred within 6 months of hire
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Completion of Core and Elective Rotations
Reviews, verifies and enters physician orders into the patient medication profile
Manages medication therapy protocols as a part of physician-pharmacist-nurse team
Compounds and dispenses medications accurately for delivery to patient care areas
Provides medication information and education to medical staff and patients
Participates in committee meetings as assigned
Performs other duties as assigned
