Our team of pharmacy residents come from around the country and have varying research and career interests. Many come to UofL Hospital because it is an academic medical center, which serves as an optimal environment for learning. Within the pharmacy department, qualified and dedicated pharmacy preceptors are committed to training the next generation of pharmaceutical leaders. Beyond participating in the day-to-day clinical and operational pharmacy functions at UofL Hospital, our residents participate in a number of additional professional and social activities.

• Pharmacists provide comprehensive services to achieve optimal drug therapy outcomes for all patients, families and providers through decentralized clinical pharmacy services in all critical care and general medicine areas including: 

               o    Bone Marrow Transplant
               o    Trauma/Burn/Surgical ICU
               o    Medical ICU (MICU)
               o    Emergency Department
               o    Internal Medicine (4 rounding services)
               o    Neonatal Intensive Care
               o    Neuro-anesthesia (Neuro ICU)
               o    Heme/Oncology
               o    Stroke/Neurology
               o    Psychiatry
               o    Operating/Recovery Room

• Pharmacists additionally provide comprehensive services within our outpatient/specialty pharmacy and ambulatory care services including:
                 o   DM MTM
                 o   Anticoagulation
                 o   Hepatitis C
                 o   Multiple Sclerosis
                 o   Adult Cystic Fibrosis
                 o   Gastroenterology
                 o   HIV Clinic
                 o   Adult Internal Medicine
                 o   Multiple Outpatient Oncology clinics (i.e., breast, BMT, lung, etc.)

The PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program at UofL Health - UofL Hospital is accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) and offers a complete experience in both acute and ambulatory care.
