The Pharmaceutical Science division of the UC Winkle College of Pharmacy is accepting applications for a Research Associate position to pursue basic and translational research.
This position involves general Laboratory maintenance and include maintaining lab inventory and order supplies, reagents, and equipment; maintaining equipment in good working order; maintaining various lab records; and other laboratory duties as deemed necessary.
The Research Associate will perform laboratory experiments and assist other laboratory personnel including postdoctoral scientists and graduate students. These experiments may include but are not limited to human skin explant culture and cell culture; Molecular biology including PCR, qRT-PCR, RNA isolation, cDNA synthesis, plasmid prep, etc.); Protein assay including western blotting; cell labeling and separation including flow cytometry; Tissue sectioning and immunostaining; and other experiments as deemed necessary.
Assist with the coordination of research studies in a particular discipline.
Make independent contributions to projects and studies based on professional training or functional experience.
Solve problems using combined research knowledge.
Independently works on whole projects/problems.
Contribute to the collective team effort.
Perform statistical and graphical analysis of data, interpret data and assist in judging validity of data.
Analyze research results.
Organize data search and analysis procedures.
Assist in establishing test controls, criteria and research standards.
Assist in the design of complex data processing systems to analyze research data.
Accomplish assigned results for project/studies, or for significant aspects of larger, complex assignments.
Serve as a seasoned level researcher.
May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.).
Degree in biological sciences or related discipline is required. Preference will be given to candidates with prior laboratory experience in one or more of the following fields: mouse colony management, cell culture and molecular biology.
Bachelor's Degree required in a related field.
In-depth knowledge of specialized field, process or discipline.
May require experience with specialized software programs.
Additional Qualifications Considered
Ph. D or M.D/Ph.D.
Strong background in cell and molecular biology and cancer research.
Experience in skin biology, cell signaling, genomic analysis, stem cells, and mouse models of cancer or other diseases.
