As the Research Assistant, I will work in a lab that centers around molecular interaction assays, pharmaceutical discovery, and cancer diagnostics. Work includes performing basic lab support procedures, running calibrations, analyzing patient samples, characterizing new reagents, and aiding in the development of assays.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under supervision, run experiments, assays, and record results

• Read and follow experimental protocols
• Compile and communicate results to supervisor
• Follow University safety protocols
• Perform calculations involving, % solutions, and serial dilutions

Prepare and operate equipment in experimental procedures

• Will be working with lab fabricated instrumentation, mechanical inclination a plus
• May include centrifuge, pH meter, spectrophotometer, analytical balance, etc.
• Maintain and repair equipment according to manufacture and university guidelines

Ensure the laboratory is prepared for experiments

• Maintain inventories
• Maintain sterile conditions as required
• Prepare reagents
• Clean equipment

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in science is necessary.
• Analytical chemistry degree or experience in chemical analysis is strongly preferred.
• Analytical chemistry knowledge is necessary.
• Knowledge of basic laboratory procedures, sample preparation, data analysis, and record-keeping is required.
• Biochemistry/biology knowledge is preferred.
• Familiarity with molecular interaction methods is strongly preferred.
