JOB DESCRIPTION 
Job Title:        Architectural Designer                                     
Reports To:   Architectural Department Manager  
Location:       Cincinnati Office 
Status:            Full-Time Non-Exempt 
 
JOB SUMMARY:  The Architectural Designer performs technical architectural work in the 
design and development of plans for alterations and new building construction projects in the Chemicals, Consumer Goods, Food & Beverage or Pharmaceutical industries, under the supervision of the Project Discipline Lead (Senior Designer or Architect) and the Best Practice Lead.  
 
The Architectural Designer will be responsible for designing, planning, and creating detailed construction documents utilizing Revit for alterations and new building construction projects in the Chemicals, Consumer Goods, Food & Beverage, or Pharmaceutical industries.  
 
The Architectural Designer will include participating in development of Revit models in 
conjunction and ongoing coordination with designers and modelers from all other disciplines within the firm (Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Packaging, Automation, Process Engineering and Process Design). 
 
Work involves frequent communication and coordination with internal engineering discipline representatives (designers and engineers), internal project managers, client representatives and material and equipment vendors. 
 
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The responsibilities listed are fundamental to the position and must be performed successfully to achieve the key performance objectives of the role.  Other responsibilities or roles may be assigned. 
 
•    Actively participate in project scope discovery effort. 
•    Discuss and document project requirements. 
•    Document project decisions and discussions during project meetings. 
•    Follow instructions and direction of Architectural Project Discipline Lead in regard to and Best Practice Lead for Architecture. 
•    Conducts surveys to gather data needed in design preparation. Prepares preliminary design sketches upon direction of the Architectural Project Lead. 
•    Utilizing the created Revit project model, produce material take-offs to support cost 
estimating efforts. 
•    Performs the modeling and construction document creation work utilizing Revit. 
•    AutoCAD capable for occasional efforts. 
•    Refers completed designs and specifications to superiors for review, alterations, and 
approval. 
 
JOB REQUIREMENTS: 
 
•    Fundamental mastery of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. 
•    Proficient in use of Autodesk Revit and familiarity with related tools and process. 
•    Ability to produce rough sketches to communicate ideas and concepts to clients and 
project team.  
•    Knowledgeable in Architectural details and standards. 
•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
•    Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. 
•    Demonstrated graphic presentation skills. 
•    Should have experience in preparation and layout of architectural contract document 
drawings. 
•    Interest in areas of Chemicals, Consumer Goods, Food & Beverage or Pharmaceutical 
industries facilities a plus. 
•    An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned

Education/Experience: 
 
•    Associates Degree Minimum in Engineering or Technology Field (4-year degree 
preferred but not required)  
•    5 or more years of working experience in architectural design and construction 
document development, specifically using Revit and AutoCAD for production. 
•    Proficient in Revit is essential. 
 
WORKING CONDITIONS: 
 
Working Hours/Environment 
•    Average 40 hours per week; may require additional hours including evening and 
weekends depending on business needs. 
•    Work typically performed in an indoor office setting/client site. 
 
Travel:  Minimal 
 
Physical Demands: 
•    Frequently required to sit at a desk/workstation for long periods of time. 
•    Ability to work at a computer terminal for extended periods of time. 
•    Light Lifting up to 20 lbs. 
•    Ability to speak to and hear employees/clients via phone or in person. 
•    Body motor skills sufficient to enable incumbent to move around an office environment. 
•    Ability to analyze unique situations and develop appropriate response.
