The Department of Medicine's Division of Hematology has an outstanding opportunity open for a Temporary and detail-oriented Data/Research Coordinator to review patient medical records and record key data for human subject research.

This position supports the clinical research objectives of the Division of Hematology clinical research program.  The position works with the program faculty and staff to facilitate the research objectives of investigator initiated and pharmaceutical sponsored clinical trials.

Position Complexities:

This position requires the ability to integrate information from multiple sources ensuring all research data is accurate, following state and federal policies for human subject research.  With guidance this position develops procedures that ensure all research meets or exceeds these requirements while expeditiously furthering the research objectives of the Division of Hematology.

Description:

Abstract diagnosis, risk, treatment, outcomes and survival for patients seeking care at the UW/SCCA/Hutch for hematologic disorders, primarily high-risk Myelodysplastic Syndromes (MDS) and Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML).
 
Abstraction and Analysis

•          Work independently and with study team members to obtain, abstract, and code complex clinical information from medical records.
•         Code and record information into various data-capture systems (both electronic and paper-based).
•         With other study team members, make judgments about the relevance of the clinical data to the research for complicated oncology research subjects.
•         Responsible for maintaining REDCap data and CTMS data for research studies.
•         May perform data quality review.

Process Improvement

•          Work with the study team and other groups to develop process improvement.  Assist in the assessment and documentation of standard data practices.
•          Assist Investigators and study team with preparation of study data for publications.
•          May perform data quality review.

Required:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Biology or health related field and one-year experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong computer skills and competency with Microsoft Office software.  Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Applicants selected for this position who have not already completed training for clinical research involving human subjects will be required to complete training within 90 days.
• Ability to work independently and make decisions as necessary
