Job Description Summary:

The brand-new Regeneron DNA Learning Center (DNALC) in Sleepy Hollow, NY has several openings for high school interns to begin working this spring. This new learning center is in partnership with Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Inc, in Sleepy Hollow, NY. DNALC Interns will join a team that is responsible for the preparation of materials for teacher workshops, student camps and school-year student field trips. This is a great opportunity to learn core lab skills, including but not limited to: preparation of media and solutions, pipetting, agarose gel electrophoresis, PCR, bacterial culture and sterile technique.

 Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

 Classroom upkeep, cleaning and equipment setup.
 Preparation and testing of reagents and cultures for use in experiments.
 Assistance for educational staff during classroom instruction
 Supervision of summer campers during lunch breaks.
 Participation in independent or team projects, mentored by DNALC staff members, which focus on translating current research into new experiments for the educational programs.
 

Essential Duties Summary:

EDUCATION: Current high school student, must be at least 16 years old.
 EXPERIENCE: An interest in science
 OTHER: High school interns work a minimum of two days per week (3-5PM) during the school year, and Monday – Friday (8-2PM) for 5-6 weeks during the summer.
 
 Must have reliable transportation to and from the Regeneron DNALC in Sleepy Hollow
