The #InnovationLab in Chicago Downtown is an accelerator for data-driven solutions at Abbott. Our location in Chicago currently has an opportunity for a senior data technologist with expert-level knowledge of data warehouse design and implementation, data lake design and implementation, business intelligence tools and reporting, application development lifecycle, and busines solution architecture.  This is a hands-on role where the individual will be responsible for the business requirement analysis, data profiling, data strategy, data modeling and design, data architecture and liaison with business and technology teams.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Primary Function

• Provide data leadership and oversight in analytical solutions development as related to analytics initiatives 
• Participate in development of data strategies, technology components and roadmaps in big data and advanced analytics  
• Use data and insight to solve business problems, drive superior customer experience and transform our business 
• Coordinate System Development Lifecyle deliverables with the project manager and work with busines, project manager, and delivery team to ensure a quality product is delivered.  
• Function in an agile environment and must also collaborate with rest of the to work together in an agile fashion, jointly own the solution, and interface well with other parts of the organization.

Core Job Responsibilities

• Strategic Oversight  

• Collaborate with technology leaders, business partners and peer groups regarding long and short-range Advanced Analytics goals and strategy 
• Recommend and drive innovative solutions, which anticipates the future direction of the business, its drivers and solution strategy 
• Drive globalization of capabilities and determines redundancy and re-engineering opportunities 

• Technology Delivery Oversight 

• Liaison between IT BRM and business sponsors to understand business needs and user requirements.  Understanding business processes and critical data used by business to drive their analytical reporting needs. 
• Ability to translate business requirements into system level design and detailed technical architecture documents.
• Perform data analysis, data modeling, and data architecture activities to drive system solutions that will provide business users with data base designs and structures that will most effectively support their data reporting and analytical needs.
• Understanding of System Development Lifecycle and how best to apply SDLC principles based on project scope and complexity.
• Guide development, testing teams, and SQA team to ensure applications meet business needs and are tested to a level that meets SQA validation guidelines and user acceptance. 
• Support new business development opportunities with emphasis on experience delivery platforms including data analytical solutions and predictive analytics.
• Technical leadership skills in driving architecture, ensuring applications met user needs, helping with technical trade-offs, and driving best practices.
• Help identify opportunities for and drive Continuous Improvement activities.
• Maintain a strong understanding of industry standards and collaborate with fellow team leaders on the prioritization and execution of ongoing platform improvement initiatives.
• Assist production support activities in investigating and resolving user and technical issues identified.
  • Implement and maintain compliance and controls for all relevant regulations (FDA, SOX, CFR, GDPR, HIPAA) and policies that apply to pharmaceutical, consumer good, diagnostics and medical device industries  
  • Constantly improve system performance and reliability through better tools, process, and monitoring systems  
  • Drive the adoption of new technology and methods through evaluation and feasibility research  
• Ensure effective systems operations between the suppliers and Abbott DTS organization

Scope

• Part of the centralized team responsible for conceptualizing, developing and maintaining Advanced Analytics products within Abbott 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU'LL BRING

Experience

• 15+ years of application development experience in business intelligence, data engineering, big data platforms and/or digital products. 
• Expertise in Data Profiling, Data Architecture, Data Engineering, and familiarity with Data Governance
• Experience with analytics implementation projects on Azure and/or AWS cloud 
• Strong customer centric approach with outstanding leadership and organizational skills 
• Ability to communicate complex quantitative analysis in a clear, precise, actionable manner 
• Excellent facilitation and influence skills for insight driven culture change 
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills 
• Excellent vendor management skills 
• Ability to prioritize and triage deadline-driven tasks in a high-pressure environment 
• Experience working in an FDA-regulated business (e.g. validated software related to medical, pharmaceutical, or life sciences products) is preferred.  

Education

• Bachelor's degree in the field of computer science, engineering, or equivalent relevant experience/ Master's Degree preferred
