This position will report into the Head of Regulatory Science & Advocacy (RSA), who in turn reports into the VP of Global Regulatory Affairs (GRA). The successful candidate position will hold a great deal of responsibility for establishing IFF advocacy positions with Pharma regulators and customers, with high potential impact of successfully advancing our agenda to expand opportunities and avoid restrictions.

USA (various: New Jersey, Delaware, California) or Europe (UK and various EU locations)

Major Accountabilities Include:

• Issue Monitoring (20%) Use available monitoring tools and external network to identify, analyze, and communicate current or emerging issues and changes in legislation of strategic importance to the Pharma and Health businesses.
• Issue Management and Communication (20%) Ensure internal alignment on issues with relevant stakeholders such as GRA, manufacturing site leadership, Quality, and other relevant business partners, with timely delivery of appropriate IFF position and communication material for external use with relevant stakeholder groups (trade associations, regulators, international bodies).
• Leadership (30%) Lead external Science & Advocacy initiatives (with trade associations, regulators, customers) together with relevant internal stakeholders (GRA, Quality, and other relevant business partners).
• Networking (20%) Establish and maintain internal and external relations in relevant regulatory/policy networks, building stable and trusted relations with key trade associations, regulators, and other stakeholders.
• Training (10%) Provide internal training on implementing product and manufacturing requirements relative to regulations.

Bachelors Degree in the Life Sciences required
6-9 years in Regulatory function in (preferably) US pharmaceutical excipients or ingredients industry, with experience implementing innovation in a regulated environment
Working knowledge of international pharma requirements, and experience and cultural awareness to effectively interact with international stakeholders
Maturity and savviness required for positioning to and communication with diverse internal and external stakeholders
Full working proficiency in English

Preferred Background and Skills:

Masters Degree in Regulatory Affairs or one of the Pharmaceutical Sciences
Minimum of 3 years experience influencing pharma regulatory policy via leadership position(s) in key trade associations or international bodies
Relevant global network and experience in dealing with pharma regulatory agencies and trade associations
Experience in relevant agency (e.g., US FDA, Health Canada, EMA) or industry with oversight in CMC regulatory affairs
Demonstrated ability to translate complicated science issues into clear and actionable advocacy positions
Working proficiency in additional languages, e.g., Spanish.
