The Department of Exercise and Health Sciences (EHS) at the University of Massachusetts (UMass) Boston invites applications for Doctoral Graduate Assistantships available for accepted candidates starting in Fall 2022.

UMass Boston is nationally recognized as a student-centered, urban public research university. The scenic waterfront campus has easy access to downtown Boston and numerous world-class medical centers and research facilities. EHS is a uniquely diverse exercise science department focused on innovative research and hands-on learning. The faculty's broad expertise ranges from the cellular level to the society at large, with many collaborative research efforts focused on applied exercise physiology and physical activity and health promotion in diverse populations across the lifespan.

Our PhD program prepares students to become well-rounded independent researchers and effective teachers. Doctoral students will work closely with their faculty advisor on supervised research and dissertation projects. The faculty’s current research projects are supported by various funding agencies, including, but not limited to, the National Institutes of Health, the American Heart Association, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and pharmaceutical companies.
