We are seeking a Research Data Analyst who will provide support conducting investigations in pharmacoepidemiology and drug safety. This role will join a group of faculty and trainees engaged in this research - which includes analyses of prescription drug utilization, comparative effectiveness and safety - in the School of Public Health and School of Medicine at Johns Hopkins. The investigations use a variety of public and proprietary data sources including administrative data such as health plan claims, audits of ambulatory-based care, electronic health information such as N3C, and longitudinal patient surveys.
This individual should also have familiarity with both the methods and content of pharmacoepidemiology and drug safety, including the analysis of administrative health care claims and other commonly used data sources. Regular contact with researchers, collaborators, requires the use of good judgment, tact and sensitivity
Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
This individual will have the opportunity to participate in multiple facets of the research from development of research aims to the preparation of final reports, although the primary activities will be to:
- Manage and coordinate funded projects.
- Perform quality control analysis of newly collected/obtained data.
- Develop analytic datasets from raw data and create variables according to the research plan.
- Conduct analysis for descriptive, cross-sectional and longitudinal studies.
- Perform statistical analysis such as linear and logistic regression and survival analysis.
- With PI's supervision, implement statistical methods for analysis of complex longitudinal data and use propensity score analysis and instrumental variable analysis methods.
- Assist to prepare reports, manuscripts, and interpret results for scientific collaborators, prepare presentations for scientific meetings.
- Assist in grant writing and generating preliminary data for grants.
Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):
- Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Nutrition, Epidemiology, Public Health, or a related field and three years of related experience.
- Demonstrated ability on significant graduate project or additional doctoral education may substitute for experience to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.*
- Preference will be given to candidates with more extensive research productivity and/or knowledge and experience with the pharmaceutical industry and/or pharmaceutical regulation.
* JHU Equivalency Formula: 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Public Health or related quantitative field preferred.
- Strong experience analyzing healthcare claims (e.g., commercial or government healthcare claims data) and electronic medical records data.
- Knowledge and experience performing analysis using SAS; familiarity with R and STATA.
- Analytic experience with statistical methods such as linear, logistic, survival, hierarchical models and propensity scores.
Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Strong analytical skills.
- Proficiency with data management, programming and biostatistical methods applied to large administrative data sets using programs such as SAS, STATA, and R.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and oral and written communication skills required
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple and competing priorities.
- Proficiency in the use of statistical software applications (programming within SAS preferred, R and/or STATA familiarity), databases, spreadsheets and word processing required.
