What You'll Do
The Group Manager, Market Data & Analytics will have global responsibility for generating foundational market understanding across Abbott Vascular through the execution of data strategy, analytical forecasts, market performance tracking, as well as primary and secondary market research. Success within this position will be achieved through high-quality execution, inspired analytics that connects data to actionable business decisions, and developing relationships with internal business partners. This position will report into our Global Strategy and Insights Team, and work closely with global product marketing, commercial sales, R&D, finance, clinical, business development, and several cross-functional partners. The position is in Santa Clara, California.
Major Responsibilities
- Design and implement market data infrastructure and identify flexible, yet scalable data solutions. Act as subject matter expert, guiding team and implementing best practices for data collection, management, and analysis.
- Design and execute strategic forecasts and analyses using scarce data to develop informed and insightful estimates that impact the business. Lay out well-thought-out rationale for key assumptions and inputs. Analyses based on understanding of available research and analytical techniques for both short-term needs and longer-term forecasts and assessments.
- Understand market dynamics to provide expertise on data interpretation for the organization. Analyze market segments and companies utilizing multiple information sources (primary and secondary data) to provide actionable business insights. Translate complex data and insights into clear and concise data visualizations and narrative.
- Build & maintain the quarterly executive market & competitor reporting package through market models, including competitor, product franchise / segment, and geographic trends across the Vascular division.
- Utilize expertise in a variety of qualitative and quantitative primary market research methodologies to design appropriate research and analysis plans and execute research that answers strategic and tactical business questions.
- Develop executive-level presentations to communicate analyses and implications with leadership across the organization. Manage multiple stakeholder customers in fast-moving environment to respond to ad-hoc industry analyses in addition to ongoing reporting.
- Exhibit strong project management and organizational skills that are needed to manage vendors on cost, timing, appropriateness of methodology, and actionability of conclusions.
- Lead a small team of market intelligence professionals. Cultivate a team culture that includes accountability, customer-first focus, fast-paced, high integrity, and an optimistic and positive environment.
- Display a positive, solutions-based approach to all projects, and work effectively in teams.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree plus 4-6 years of related work experience with a complete understanding of specified functional area, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. Advanced degree preferred.
Preferred
- MBA or other advanced degree strongly preferred
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in the market and / or business analytics and forecasting in industries such as Medical Devices, Pharmaceuticals, Healthcare, or Pharmaceuticals or similar industries
- Experience in translating vague or poorly defined information needs into actionable, researchable issues. Experience in dealing with multiple cultures and nationalities around the world are critical to effective performance.
- Experience with advanced forecasting techniques, such as regression analysis, cluster analysis, conjoint analysis and discrete choice modeling
- Highly proficient in building reporting mechanisms and/or creating automated dashboards and data visualizations
- Outstanding interpersonal skills including developing relationships at all levels in an organization and indirectly influencing business decisions
- Ability to distill multiple pieces of qualitative and quantitative information into meaningful storylines, conclusions, and recommendations
- Attention to detail while managing competing priorities, tight time pressures, and project budgets
