Our location in St. Paul, MN or Lake County, IL or Plano, TX currently has a senior technical specialist opportunity on our data integration team that supports analytics solutions for On-premises and cloud applications. The candidate will have responsibilities including project assessment, estimation and implementation within the Information Management integration portfolio, mentoring junior team members and building integration solutions to support business stakeholder goals and objectives.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
This Sr. Technical Specialist will play a critical role in leading and participating in the estimation, analysis, design, development and support of ETL processes ideally using DataStage. A key element of this position will require the candidate to establish strong relationships with the Business relationship managers, business SMEs within the functional domain area and team members.
MAIN REPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Responsible to lead and participate in the estimation, design and development of data warehousing components, database designs and primarily ETL processes.
Collaborate with business stakeholders and implementation partners to develop Information management solutions using a variety of databases, SQL and DataStage/Informatica PowerCenter.
Perform design and implementation of analytic applications and integrations.
Implement architecture engagement models and be an ambassador for partnership with delivery and external vendors.
Influence Roadmap to modernize legacy platforms to support advanced analytics and data science needs at Abbott.
Advise and guide junior technical engineers on engagements. This includes participating in on-site visits, understanding customer requirements, creating solution proposals and creating data service offerings.
Perform activities in various project phases including Analysis, Requirements, Design, Build, User Acceptance Testing, Training, Cutover, Deployment and Hyper care.
Effectively communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical business and executive leaders.
Assist with scoping, pricing, architecting, and selling large project engagements.
Work closely with SMEs and functional experts in Commercial, R&D, finance, sales, etc. for building data pipelines from structured and unstructured data sources.
Demonstrate high degree of analytic agility to meet fluid and dynamic business needs.
Ensure cohesiveness between business strategies and technology directions.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE, YOU'LL BRING
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required
8+ years' experience of ETL implementations in a highly technical and analytical environment.
Experience working on ETL teams in large-scale analytics data platform projects utilizing any of the ETL Tools...DataStage (preferred) or Informatica.
Understanding of Data Modeling for creating effective ETL processes.
Knowledge of ETL platform administrative tasks.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence within and across organizations, functions and business areas.
Demonstrate a technical acumen that enables effective communication both with technical and business teams.
Strong analytical, problem solving, presentation, and organizational skills.
Ability to meet multiple deadlines and work independently but engage others as needed to accomplish milestones and deliverables.
Ability to work in a matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.
Have a solid understanding of Software Life Cycle (SLC) methodologies and deliverables including the Business Impact Assessment, Disaster Recovery Plan and Change Request.
