Status: Permanent, Full-Time
Responsible for leading the finance team at the affiliate and partnering with the commercial leadership in managing the business. Work closely with the General Manager in developing LBE and strategic plans, and in ensuring the delivery of financial commitments. Develop the finance strategies to support the continued growth of the business, ensure adequate internal controls and compliance with policies and procedures, and develop/mentor a high performing team.
Planning and Reporting
Prepare and manage the quarterly LBE process. Issue LBE guidelines and ensure timely completion of all deliverables.
Manage/review the preparation of LBE and Commercial Demand Review (CDR) presentation materials with Area.
Complete all LBE Area finance templates with valid commentaries and explanations of significant variances.
Review data in DODECA planning system and ensure accuracy of sales units, prices, standard cost and cost center expenses.
Review annual SG&A budget broken down by cost center and by month. Review and discuss with budget owners and General Manager.
Review expense requests. Ensure requests are within the budget and exceptions, if any, should be approved by the GM.
Review all financial information included in LBE presentations and monthly CDR to ensure accuracy and consistency with all financial reports.
Review monthly/weekly financial reports for reasonableness and completeness before submitting to Area. Ensure complete commentaries for all significant variances.
Review the CDR package prepared by the Demand Manager. Ensure accuracy and alignment of the demand forecast with financial forecasts. Review overall quality of commentaries before submitting to Area.
Review the monthly HC report and ensure that all HC are captured in the right cost centers. Provide commentaries for significant variances.
Review the monthly DOH and DSO reports. Investigate significant variances and prepare necessary corrective action plans.
Review/prepare financial commitment memos for management approvals
Review and approve supplier invoices before payment. Ensure charges are valid and accurate.
Review & approve journal entries for accuracy and completeness.
Ensure that all completed and incurred transactions are appropriately accrued.
Review and approve balance sheet reconciliations. Ensure reconciling items are investigated and resolved on a timely basis.
Prepare internal audit requirements and ensure that there are no internal audit weaknesses relating to the division.
Review monthly price edit reports and customer build reports from UPS. Ensure changes are properly approved.
Review and approve incentive payouts (quarterly & year-end).
Prepare/review capital RCEs in accordance with Abbott policy
Monitor spending vs approved RCE. Ensure total charges are within the approved amount.
Review/approve MSA/SOW with vendors.
Review inventory and supply situation with Demand Manager on regular basis. Identify any supply risk and elevate with Area management and/or ADC Supply group to prevent back orders
Prepare financial presentations/slides as required by the GM.
Attend the annual sales meeting and ensure that all finance-related issues are appropriately noted and considered in the planning process as well as in the daily finance operations.
Liaise with CFS on any finance process-related issues (e.g., CTE, Cheque Requests, New Processes etc.)
Complete the annual performance review of staff, including merit recommendations
Prepare talent succession plans and participate in TMR reviews with Finance leadership group across Abbott Canada.
Responsible for approving the following:
Supplier invoices (approval to pay)
Release of orders on credit hold
Accounts Receivable write offs
Inventory write offs
Returned Goods requests
Set up of new UPS accounts
Application for Customer Credit Terms
Required Skills & Abilities:
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Understanding of policies and procedures relating to financial requirements.
Advanced ability in English.
Proficiency in MS Office with a special emphasis on Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Intermediate proficiency in the use of JD Edwards, DODECA Planning System, Cognos, etc.
Travel 5% of the time within Canada and Internationally.
Education and Required Experience:
8+ years of relevant experience.
Must hold minimally an undergraduate degree in accountancy and MBA degree is preferred.
Accounting designation is preferred.
